Autumn 2017 Outdoor Learning Projects – Year 5

Year Four and Five have been busy using our Outdoor Learning Area to Explore the Basic needs of people across the World.

Year Five

Classes are focusing on The Indus Valley combined with looking at the properties of materials and clean water in science.

The children have explored organic and inorganic materials, using metal biscuit tins to make their own charcoal.

The charcoal or carbon is then used with different materials like gravel and sand to make water filters to create clean water, which is a major continuing problem in much of the world.

Year five have made their own outside bread cooked on the fire and in our oven, using materials found in the Indus Valley.

They started to create a woven wall in their shelter.
